Charm Lolli

Brand Identity | Designer & Project Manager

Brand identity for a small, woman-owned business startup specializing in custom handmade crafts in Winter Garden, FL.

Project Background

Who is the client?

Charm Lolli, a small woman-owned business based in Winter Garden, FL.

What do they do?

Verla, Charm Lolli’s business owner, has over 20 years of crafting expertise. She specializes in handcrafted jewelry, custom charms & goods. Charm Lolli is a new business endeavor aimed at selling products both online and in-person at local markets.

The problem statement

Charm Lolli has no way to market themselves to their audience online or in-person at craft shows resulting in zero sales and no way to leave a lasting impression.

Discovery

Together with the client, we defined Charm Lolli’s mission, target audience, and competitive landscape.

We figured out her immediate needs, wants, and prioritized the project for impact.

Market research and competitive analysis revealed common design trends with the most successful small businesses in the charm-crafting space, Charm Lolli wanted a feminine, modern design that was both fresh and reliable.

Mission

To bring small moments of joy to life through thoughtfully handcrafted charms that feel personal and meaningful

Vision

To be a go-to brand for unique, handcrafted charms that celebrate individuality and make every gift feel special

Target audience

  • Shoppers looking for affordable, thoughtful gifts

  • Craft fair visitors and Etsy browsers seeking unique, handmade items

  • Primarily appeals to a younger, trend-aware audience who value cute, expressive products

Competitive landscape

Charm Lolli enters a competitive handmade goods market spanning online platforms like Etsy and in-person environments, such as craft fairs and farmers markets. With many small businesses offering similar charm-based products, success depends on creating a distinctive, memorable brand that stands out visually while fostering an emotional connection with customers.

Investigate

Brainstorming & concept development

The brainstorming and concept development phase focused on broad exploration and rapid iteration.

I started with mind-mapping to uncover core brand themes & associations, then translated these ideas into curated mood boards to define the visual direction.

Initial sketches allowed for quick ideation and experimentation, while AI-powered tools were leveraged to generate diverse variations and push creative boundaries, which enabled a more expansive exploration process, leading to a refined and strategically aligned brand concept.

Design

Create the identity

Developed the visual identity system, including logo design, color palette, typography, and supporting brand elements, ensuring consistency across digital and physical applications.

Sketch early ideas

I began with sketching ideas based on insights gathered in the investigative phase.

Moodboards

I put together two moodboards to help develop brand look and feel.

Exploring options

Created multiple distinct logo concepts to present to the client for feedback. At this point, the client was unsure whether to use Lolli Charms or Charm Lolli as their business name.

Seeing the logo design mockups allowed them to see potential branding in action. We polled the options on social media to gather insight into marketability.
